French uses avoir, not être, for age. English speakers carry over "I am 30" and it stays wrong for years because nobody corrects it in conversation.
Je vais à le magasin.Je vais au magasin.
à + le contracts to au, and à + les contracts to aux. The uncontracted form is never correct, but it sounds fine in your head when you build the sentence word by word.

Nouns ending in -ème are usually masculine despite the -e ending that normally signals feminine. Gender errors are the single most common correction in learner French.
J'ai allé au marché.Je suis allé au marché.
A set of verbs of motion and change of state take être in the passé composé, not avoir, and then the participle agrees with the subject.
Je sais Marie.Je connais Marie.
Savoir is for facts and skills, connaître is for people and places. English collapses both into "know", so this one needs actively unlearning.
- Is this French corrector free?

- How is this different from a normal grammar checker?
- A grammar checker fixes the sentence. This explains why the sentence was wrong, in English, so the correction becomes something you can apply next time. It also gives you coaching on what you wrote and a score for grammar, verbs and vocabulary, which a checker does not do.
- Can it correct my French homework or an email?
- It works on any French text you paste in. It is built for people practising their own writing rather than for polishing a document, so you will get explanations and a progress score alongside the corrections, not just a clean version to copy.
- Does it handle formal and informal French?
- Yes. Corrections respect the register you wrote in, so a message written with tu is not rewritten into vous. If you mix the two inside one piece of writing, that inconsistency gets flagged, because it is one of the more common things learners do without noticing.
